EDDIE Module Author Featured in Houston Chronicle Article
The Tiger Prairie is being used as an outdoor classroom for Katy High School students and the local community. The prairie provides an opportunity for students of EDDIE module author Kelly Knight to explore how ground surfaces influence flooding, a local issue, during large storms such as hurricanes. Students can see how prairies can mitigate flooding using real data that the students collect. The project also benefits English as a Second Language students as they learn new vocabulary through these hands-on activities. The module was piloted in Spring 2020 and will be available in early 2021. Read the article here.
