Pre-workshop tasks
1. Please register with SERC so that you will have access to development pages at this link.
2. So that we know a little about one another, please complete the participant profile form. After the form is submitted, the information will be used by SERC to create a web page (some of you have already done so. See project web page )
3. Review the pedagogical modules at Starting Point: Teaching and Learning Economics at the Starting Point opening page. Identify the modules to which you likely will submit your examples (both can be for the same module).
4. Sketch out the teaching examples that you will create on January 3. We will work collaboratively during our time together, receiving feedback from one another. Because of the short time we have together, we'll make the most progress if you arrive at the workshop with draft plans for your two examples.

Workshop Background
Support
for this workshop comes from a National Science Foundation grant project: Starting Point: Teaching and
Learning Economics. This project created a web-based pedagogic portal
for economics instructors, providing extensive information about sixteen
different pedagogic practices, as well as a library of teaching
examples (exercises) supporting the use of those practices.
The
Starting Point web site is maintained by the Science Education Resource
Center (SERC) at Carleton College (MN), a partner in our project. We
will be using the SERC site to host the exercises you create (click
here for an example). While in development, these pages will be
private, accessible only to project participants. Upon the author's
approval and review by the project staff, they will be made public at
the Starting Point site. Authors will receive credit for this
publication on the site (see the example linked above).
