Background Information
Scott is currently Teaching Associate Professor and Undergraduate Program Chair in the Division of Economics and Business at the Colorado School of Mines. His main teaching responsibility is the core principles of economics course. He also teaches intermediate micro, public economics and economics and technology. Scott received his PhD in economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1996. He has also taught at California State University-Fresno and Colorado State University. Scott is a member of the Colorado School of Mines's Center for Engineering Education and was a research associate at the school's Center for Economic Education at Fresno State.
Related Pedagogical Projects
Scott participated in the Teaching Innovation Program in 2008. He has presented papers and posters on teaching economics at the Allied Social Science Association and the Southern Economic Association meetings. Scott developed a training and mentoring program for graduate teaching assistants at the Colorado School of Mines. Along with colleagues in the Center for Engineering Education at Mines, Scott is analyzing the unique challenges and opportunities involved in teaching economics to engineers.
