Student Input on Topics

Kyle Gray, Institution

Several years ago Tim Slater published a paper in JGE where he described a backwards, faded, scaffolding technique for teaching students how to conduct a scientific investigation. For my Earth Science course for elementary ed majors, I implemented this approach for a lesson on the causes of the season. The students conducted a series of investigations of how the temperature of different objects increased at different rates. This idea was fairly easy to implement, and I can't think of anything else that JGE or the GER community could have done to make it easier ti implent.
