Carleton has two programs to which Carleton students can apply for funding to pay stipends for winter break and summer research. The programs support faculty-student research at Carleton or other institutions. Typically, about 70 students are on campus each summer doing research with Carleton faculty in science and math fields.

The two programs are:
  1. HHMI Summer Science Fellowships for summer research at Carleton or elsewhere (4 per summer per cohort). Students apply in early January.
  2. Kolenkow-Reitz awards for winter break or summer research at another institution (~9 per summer, ~14 per winter break). Students apply in October and February.

The Carleton College student stipend for summer 2013 research is $4,200 for 10 weeks of full-time work.

If you have more questions, please talk to the contact(s) listed on the program pages for details.
