New free resource for leading change: The Science Education Initiative Handbook
published Feb 12, 2019 9:08am
As many of you are likely leading programs to improve department-level teaching practices, I want to let you know about a free and open guide for fostering change in universities by embedding educational experts within departments. The Science Education Initiative Handbook has practical advice and a suite of resources for those leading initiatives, soliciting departmental proposals, department leaders organizing work with their faculty, or for postdocs or instructors partnering with faculty to make changes to their courses. Building on the lessons learned in the Science Education Initiative (SEI), a 10-year initiative at University of Colorado Boulder and University of British Columbia spearheaded by Nobel Laureate Carl Wieman, the Handbook is authored by two education specialists deeply involved across the span of the initiative.
Come join our webinar through the ASCN where we share some of the messages from the handbook (Thursday, Feb 28th, 1pm ET). Link: https://ascnhighered.org/ASCN/webinars/2019/edu_specialists/index.html
Read or download the SEI Handbook for free online at https://pressbooks.bccampus.ca/seihandbook/. Printed copies are also available on Amazon.com. Please share this message widely!
