Postdoc position exploring culture of chemistry
published Dec 22, 2023 8:11amThis full-time, grant-funded position will involve one or more of the following: 1. Conducting research to investigate the culture of chemistry from the perspectives of PEERs (people excluded due to ethnicity or race), 2. Supporting the development of counterstories that provide insight on minority experiences in chemistry, and 3. Developing and instructing graduate-level training on implementing culturally responsive practices in STEM fields. The successful candidate will possess experience with research and practice in education, ideally within the context of a STEM discipline. Experience applying critical race theory, community cultural wealth theory, and organizational change theories are ideal but not required. The postdoctoral fellow will join a collaborative unit with a history of advancing inclusive education through research and practice. This position may be renewable for up to two years upon satisfactory performance. Must be eligible to work in the US by proposed start date. TILT will not provide VISA sponsorship for this position.
Required Job Qualifications
Must have received a Ph.D. by start of position in a STEM discipline, education, or related field.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience conducting social science research.
Ability to advance the department's commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching and outreach with relevant programs, goals and activities.
Demonstrated knowledge of, and relevant ability with, culturally diverse communities among potential target and constituent populations.
Teaching experience in higher education.
