Course Context:
This is an upper division course primarily for geology majors although students from geography, physics and civil engineering also enroll. The course fulfills an upper division requirement for a "quantitative" course; the prerequisites are an introductory geology course, one semester each of calculus and physics. There are several field trip-based projects with significant writing assignments.
