Summary

This course is designed to educate students in the fundamentals of the technology of remote sensing, which includes the concepts and foundations of remote sensing, the elements of remote sensing process such as image acquisition and interpretation, and the principles of multispectral remote sensing, hyperspectral remote sensing, thermal remote sensing, and radar remote sensing.

Course Context:

This is an upper-division introductory course with no pre-requisites but serves as a prerequisite for other courses. It is required for the Mapping Technology program in the department. The course has a required one-hour laboratory per week.

Course Goals:

Students should be able to comprehend, interpret, and explain maps, charts, and other graphic data.

Students should be able to apply Erdas Imagine software to digitally interpret commonly used satellite image data.
