Baylor Professor, Dr. Vincent Cronin Named Editor of NAGT and AGI's Physical Geology Lab Manual
published Sep 1, 2015 2:07pmThe National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT) and the American Geosciences Institute (AGI) are pleased to welcome Baylor University Professor, Dr. Vincent Cronin as the Editor of the Physical Geology Lab Manual, starting with the the 11th Edition.
"Each new edition of the lab manual calls for a careful balance between moving the field of geoscience education forward and working within the scope of instruction as practiced by the large and diverse group of users of the manual," AGI Executive Director Dr. P. Patrick Leahy said, "Dr. Cronin's extensive and varied experience provides him the insight to maintain that balance; simultaneously working toward implementing innovative instructional approaches and maintaining the manual as an accessible teaching and learning tool."
In addition to his role as a university professor, he is a member in many of the societies that both NAGT and AGI are affiliated with including being a Fellow at the Geological Society of America, and maintaining active membership in the American Geophysical Union, Seismological Society of America, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Association of Environmental and Engineering Geoscientists, and International Association for the Promotion of Geoethics. He is also a full member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society.
Dr. Cronin's work will be vital to updating both the content and pedagogical approach in the manual so as to maintain its alignment with current knowledge and practice in geology and related sciences, as well as developments in geoscience education.
