Workshop Goals
- To create a retrospective analysis of where the NSDL community started with its 2000 vision as laid out in Pathways to Progress, answering questions such as:
- How has the original vision for the NSDL been realized?
- How has it developed over time?
- What new knowledge has been generated as a result of the project?
- In what areas has the NSDL succeeded? What are its future challenges?
- How does the NSDL relate to future cyberlearning programs?

Monday, April 23
The Alumni Guest House (AGH) will be the venue for the workshop. It is noted on your campus map.
7:00 - 8:00 Complimentary Breakfast at the hotel
8:30 - 9:00 Welcome and Introduction (Alumni Guest House - AGH)
- Goals, expectations, outcomes
- Roundtables followed by a round robin discussion
- Generate bulleted list of key points
10:30 - 10:45 Break
10:45 - 11:15 Outline report and create writing groups
11:15- 12:15 Consider charge and generate questions for whole group
12:15 -1:30 Lunch (AGH)
1:30 - 2:30 Whole group to resolve questions about key points
2:30 - 2:45 Break
2:45 - 5:00 Write
- Write pages
- Cross-talk between colleagues with similar interests
- Editing and reviewing
Roadcheck to collect issues/challenges (please complete this by 9pm to allow time to compile your responses)
6:30 Dinner & Dessert (AGH)
- Optional evening group meetings and telling stories (multimedia for the website)
Homework:
- Write your draft
- Complete the roadcheck
- Read and make comments on other groups' pages (add to the discussion thread at the bottom of each group's page)
Tuesday, April 24

8:30 - 9:00 Charge for the Day, Review of Objectives for the Day
9:00 - 10:00 Discussion of where we are and next steps
10:00 - 10:15 Break
10:15 - 12:00 Finish individual sections
12:00 - 1:00 Lunch
Switch to refining whole document
1:30 - 2:30 Discuss open questions, review whole document, create a finish plan
2:30 - 2:45 Break
2:45 - 5:00 Work
7:00 - Dinner- Evening: Interviews -- multimedia for the website
Homework:
- Overall conclusion text into the discussion thread on the conclusions page
- Work on chapter/sections to introduce heading and align with conclusions
- Create an executive summary from the section conclusions
Wednesday, April 25
7:00 - 8:00 Breakfast
8:30 - 8:45 Charge for the Day, Review of Objectives for the Day
8:45-10:30 More Writing and Editing
- New people edit the chapters and sections
- Finish the conclusions - This group will start with these assignments and then work collectively to finish a conclusion draft (round robin discussion)
- Overall structure of report: needed bridges, duplication, movement of points between sections, missing pieces
- Review whole document and create plan for finishing/final clean up tasks
- Create "to-do" list, next steps
