Instructional Chemistry Lab Associate

Binghamton University is seeking an Instructional Chemistry Lab Associate.

This position will support the teaching function of the Chemistry Department by:

• Setting up instruments, and preparing chemicals and reagents for the instructional chemistry teaching laboratories
• Daily distributing and clearing of chemicals in the labs
• Maintaining records and files of instrumentation and chemicals for the instructional chemistry labs
• Assisting with the management of the instructional chemistry stock rooms
• Assisting with the management of the instructional chemistry common areas
• Attaining knowledge of general lab safety, health and safety practices and protocol for waste disposal
• Providing training and work direction to student employees
• Assisting and supervising undergraduate students and graduate teaching assistants during laboratory sessions
• Assisting with the development of new lab exercises
• Participating in necessary institutional functions such as, but not limited to, departmental and university committees.
