Position Description:
The University of Washington (UW) Department of Biology is seeking to hire a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biology Education Research. Successful applicants are expected to develop an original, independent, extramurally-funded research program in discipline-based biology education research (DBER) at the university level, broadly defined. Topics could include developing practices to improve student learning and/or elevate university-level teaching; creating methods to enhance equitable outcomes in student learning; and/or developing means of increasing student engagement, among many other possibilities. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct work related to biology, but applicants with research interests encompassing multiple scientific disciplines including biology will be considered. UW faculty members engage in scholarship, teaching, and service. The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses as appropriate, and to promote diversity and equity in their research, teaching, and service activities. The position provides salary support for 9 months and has an anticipated start date of September 16, 2024. The University of Washington is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have earned a doctorate, or foreign equivalent, in the biological sciences or a related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field by the date of appointment.
