Science Education Associate Position Open at SERC

Essential Job Responsibilities:
-Developing ideas, building partnerships and authoring grant proposals for new projects.
-Designing, conducting, collaborating on, and/or consulting with projects and organizations that support effective practices in science education and institutional change.
-Convening or supporting professional development events, overseeing all aspects of SERC's contribution to the events and resulting websites and legacy content.
-Developing, with external collaborators, websites providing resources that support improved STEM teaching and learning.
-Working with project evaluators and research teams studying program processes and outcomes.
-Authoring or co-authoring journal articles, conference presentations, videos, or website resources on project results.
-Other duties, as assigned, may include literature research and quantitative data analysis.
-Under typical circumstances, work will require domestic, overnight travel to workshops and professional meetings. Carleton College has published guidelines for health and safety policies including social distancing and travel policies adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Required Qualifications:
-A PhD in geoscience or closely related field (ie. oceanography, atmospheric science, geography) is required or a PhD in education with significant experience in geoscience or a closely related field.
-Experience with project management, working within deadlines and budgets, particularly externally funded projects.
-Ability to interact with, respect, and communicate with a diverse group of collaborators while managing projects and guiding the work of individuals and groups equitably.
-Understanding of and experience with evidence-based educational practices.
-Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex information both verbally and in writing.
-Willingness to quickly learn SERC's content management system with coaching and support from the SERC team.
-Willingness to make multiple domestic, overnight trips per year to support workshops, make presentations, and assist in evaluation activities. Travel will follow Carleton College health and safety policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Demonstrated ability to confidently interact with college and university faculty, scientists and other professionals while managing projects.
-Experience designing or facilitating faculty professional development activities.
-Experience working in higher education, and knowledge of effective practices and challenges in higher education.
-Interest in and experience with project-scale collaboration.
-Experience working with quantitative and qualitative data.
-Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and develop website content.
-Teaching experience in K-12 or postsecondary settings.
