Travel by Car

The workshop hotel is the Fairfield Inn & Suites Austin Northwest located at 11201 North MoPac Expressway. For directions to the hotel, please see the hotel information page. Note that the hotel is north of Braker Lane on a one-way, northbound expressway frontage road. The workshop will take place at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Entrance to this campus is restricted to the east gate on Burnet Road, south of Braker Lane. The guard at the entry gate will have a list of registered participants attending the workshop at the Institute for Geophysics (UTIG) in Building 196.

Lodging

A shared room will be provided for you for one night (May 31) at the workshop hotel if you request a room on the workshop registration form and live outside of the Austin metropolitan area. Each shared room will have two beds, a telephone, and complimentary Internet access. Messages can be left through the hotel desk (512-527-0734). Participants who would like a single room must reserve and pay for their own room, and contact Bob Blodgett prior to the meeting to be eligible for partial reimbursement. Check-in at the hotel starts at 3:00 PM. Participants should plan to leave the hotel for the 10-minute drive to the workshop venue no later than 4:15 PM on Friday, May 31. Hotel check-out will take place on Saturday morning before participants drive to the workshop venue.

Meals

Dinner on Friday, May 31 and lunch on Saturday, June 1 will be provided at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus. Breakfast will be at the hotel and is included with the room. All meals at the J.J. Pickle campus will include vegetarian offerings. Please provide information on the registration form if you require special meals. Our funding does not cover the purchase of alcoholic beverages.

Exercise

The workshop hotel has a heated swimming pool, whirlpool spa, and 24-hour fitness center.

Please bring a laptop computer, a water bottle (we will not be providing bottled water) and, if you drink tea or coffee, you own cup.
