Overview

Meeting Overview

The meeting provided opportunities for partners to learn more about the scope of service that SERC can provide in the pedagogic service portal development process. Project partners learned from one another and strengthened collaborative relationships.

During the meeting SERC's initial partners gave demos of their new pedagogic service portals thereby helping more recent partners to envision possible applications. Partners had opportunities to discuss portal development challenges. Partners' technical staff had opportunities to discuss portal integration issues.

Participants:

  • Learned how the service is being utilized by digital libraries, centers of teaching and learning, professional development projects and others,
  • Discussed mechanisms for collecting example activities from their community,
  • Discussed strategies for reviewing activities and pedagogic modules,
  • Explored techniques for integrating the service with their technical infrastructure,
  • Helped set priorities for new additions to the library of pedagogic modules,
  • Identified ways to collaborate in order to enhance our individual and collective efforts.

Workshop activities included large and small group discussions, demonstrations, and opportunities to network with other professions that are interested in both faculty professional development and web development issues.
