AGI Announces Revised Guidelines for Ethical Professional Conduct

The American Geosciences Institute (AGI) is pleased to share the revised AGI Guidelines for Ethical Professional Conduct (Acrobat (PDF) 132kB May5 15) with their member societies. The Guidelines represent a significant update to the original Guidelines for Ethical Professional Conduct, which were adopted by AGI in 1999.

The committee, chaired by Professor David Mogk and representing the National Association of Geoscience Teachers, developed the Guidelines to provide an aspirational framework to identify the ethical principles that should inform the professional conduct of geoscientists regardless of their particular area of study. Thank you to AGI and the committee for offering their time and energy to promote informed understanding of the role of ethics in the geosciences, raising standards of professional practice among geoscientists, and promoting this common code of ethics for geoscientists.
