Worldwide, many local fisheries are declining. Coral-reef fisheries in particular are especially susceptible to overfishing and habitat degradation, and it is increasingly important to try to balance the needs of dependent local fisheries and marine biodiversity conservation. This interactive simulation allows students to explore the factors that influence fishery sustainability and see how marine reserves can work. Based on research from the Bahamas, the activity focuses on three important fisheries species: the queen conch, the Nassau grouper, and the spiny lobster. For more information please visit: http://ncep.amnh.org/marine_simulation/
