As the summer approaches, I'm wondering about what you do on the last day of classes. Is it business as usual? Preparation for the final exam, if you have one? Do you use it as an opportunity for students to reflect on what they've learned? Do you describe what they could do if they choose to pursue a degree in geoscience? Or perhaps lead a discussion about how geoscience relates to societal or global challenges?

Norlene found a lovely article for me about what faculty do on the last day of class:
https://www.teachingprofessor.com/topics/for-those-who-teach/prompts-that-get-students-to-analyze-reflect-relate-and-question/

Both describe strategies for encouraging students to reflect on what they've learned in your course and how it relates to their lives. http://teaching.berkeley.edu/last-day-class lists many other ways to use the last day of class.

What do you do on your last days? If you teach online, what is the equivalent of the last day of class, and how do you structure it?
