Tectonic Plates Life Cycle Drag and Drop
This activity will allow students to manipulate Google slide textboxes to explore different features of tectonic plates and their interactions.
This activity can be used in earth science classes in middle or high school.
Skills and concepts that students must have mastered
Students need a basic understanding of plate tectonics.
How the activity is situated in the course
This may be used as an introduction, inquiry piece, or as an assessment.
Content/concepts goals for this activity
Students will review tectonic plate features.
Higher order thinking skills goals for this activity
Students will apply knowledge of plate tectonics in order to correctly identify features
Other skills goals for this activity
Students will interpret diagrams and analyze graphics.
Description and Teaching Materials
This activity is housed in Google slides, and will be used in edit mode.
Teaching Notes and Tips
After opening the resource link, go to "file" and "make a copy," to secure a copy of the document that you can edit. Additionally, you can give students the link provided on slide 1, so that they can manipulate the slide.
This drag and drop can be used as an assessment or as a review activity. If students are able to label the features of the tectonic plate correctly, then that indicates understanding of tectonic plate interactions.
