This related to the workshop question because based on the targeted audience, those who may not understand deep ocean exploration may not be aware of how the ocean preserves geological records. The trenches are a great example and a great area of study where cores could be extracted to understand and study the deep marine records while helping to reveal information on how the Earth works.
