Background Information
After graduating with my PhD in Economics from the University of California, Riverside in 2016, I immediately began teaching at San Bernardino Valley College. At SBVC I teach Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Statistics for Business and Economics, and Intro to Economics. I also serve as the faculty advisor for the Alpha Gamma Sigma honors society chapter at SBVC.I am very interested in Open Educational Resources and how to make the cost of schooling more affordable. Since my second semester at SBVC I have employed exclusively OER in each of my classes and have spend the last several semesters customizing and editing existing resources to cater specifically to my students. I am also interested in alternative classroom techniques and how to make lecture time more productive and more accessible to students.
I have populated all of my courses with group work, in-class activities, and applications of economic theory beyond the text, but I have not employed a formal TBL strategy. I am eager to learn more about TBL and am hoping to reach a comfort level to experiment with my courses in Fall 2019.
