Background Information

PhD in Economics, Louisiana State University, 2012
Masters in Applied Statistics, Louisiana State University, 2014
My research interests are Econometric and Statistical Methods, Bayesian Econometrics, Applied Microeconomics and Econometrics, Education (with emphasis on student learning).

In all my classes I assign team projects to encourage collaboration and improve learning but I did that without actually looking into TBL pedagogy until now.

I think that my teaching can improve by adopting a more formalized approach and my students would benefit immensely.

In principles classes, for 3 semesters, I asked students to design an economic game in teams of up to 4, games that were showcased during a game fair. In intermediate microeconomics and in econometric classes, students work in teams and present together in class using PowerPoint.

In microeconomics they are assigned reading material on topical issues like health care prices, retirement, student debt, etc. Their presentation needs to underline economic aspects of the debate on these topics. In econometrics, students work in teams with publicly available datasets, many times from FRED, and present in class the results of their analysis.
