Workshop Description
The virtual workshop took place over two weeks. Each week launched with a 1.5 hour keynote session on Thursdays followed by a 4-hour session on Fridays. The Friday workshops included short plenary sessions as well as breakout sessions, some discipline-based and some cross-discipline. See the Workshop Program for full schedule details.
Workshop Goals
- Learn more about strategies and resources - in your discipline and others - to strengthen partnerships of community colleges and disciplinary societies
- Develop a vision and plan to strengthen partnerships of community colleges and disciplinary societies within your discipline, considering faculty, administrative, and disciplinary society contributions and perspectives.
- Specify steps to move toward diversity, equity, and inclusion. Collaboration between community colleges and disciplinary societies can improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in the professions.
- Looking to the future, discuss possible cross-discipline collaborative efforts that would enable sharing of scarce resources and allow for greater dissemination of evidence-based practices
- Build connections and expand your network

Thursday, January 20: Motivating Change, Dealing with Resistance: Meeting People Where they Are

Keynote session led by Dr. Pamela Eddy, Professor of Higher Education at William & Mary, Editor-in-Chief of New Directions for Community Colleges, and author multiple books on leadership in higher education.

Optional Sessions
With guidance from board-certified art therapist Sarah Balascio from William & Mary, participants had the opportunity to use paper and any drawing supplies on hand. In this playful interactive session, participants got to tap into their creativity and interact with other colleagues. No art experience is necessary, just a willingness to experiment! Join us for one or more.
