Job opening: Postdoctoral fellow (Yeshiva University)
The Steinhauer Lab is seeking a postdoctoral scholar for a research and teaching position, in the Department of Biology at Yeshiva University in New York, NY. Our lab studies the role of phospholipid metabolism in development, fertility, and physiology, using Drosophila as a model. Recent studies have focused on the phospholipid metabolizing enzyme PLA2G6 and its role in neurodegeneration. The project will utilize molecular and cellular biological approaches, including, but not limited to, genome editing, transgenesis, molecular biology, cytology and imaging. The successful candidate will possess a strong research background, excellent organizational skills, close attention to detail, and self motivation. In addition to research, the postdoctoral fellow will teach the undergraduate genetics lab course in fall semesters, which is designed to engage students in the lab research project. Yeshiva University is a small liberal arts college located in Manhattan, making this position ideal for the candidate with a strong interest in a career at a liberal arts college.
A Ph.D. in biology or a related field is required.
