Logistics

The CHRONOS workshop will be held in 3140 Agronomy Hall on the Iowa State University campus. It will begin at 8:30 am Tuesday, June 13, 2006 and end at 2:00 pm on Thursday June 15, 2006.

Transportation

CHRONOS and SERC have funding from the National Science Foundation to cover the costs of the Workshop, but the grant is not large. We will cover the following participant costs: round-trip airfare, train, bus, or personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed) to Ames, Iowa; airport parking at your point of origin; and up to 3 nights lodging in Ames; and meals. Note that we do not have sufficient funds to cover car rentals, so if you choose to rent a car, the rental and parking costs will be your responsibility.

You are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to the CHRONOS Workshop. Please save all receipts. We strongly encourage you to arrive on the evening of June 12 so you can be there for the very beginning of the workshop the following morning. Although Ames Municipal Airport is the closest to the workshop, it does not service commercial flights. The closest airport you can use is the Des Moines International Airport (DSM). Des Moines is about 35 miles (40 minutes) from Ames.

Transportation to and from the airport and hotel, and the hotel and University will be provided. After making your reservations, give us your arrival and departure times so we know when to pick you up. At 8am on workshop days, a shuttle will come to pick you up from the hotel lobby. If you prefer to walk or drive, see the following links for maps of the campus and of Agronomy Hall.

Lodging

A block of rooms at the Baymont Inn and Suites has been reserved under CHRONOS. Contact them to reserve a room. The room and tax will be billed to us directly but you need to call the hotel to confirm the reservation with a credit card for incidentals.
