Jane Willenbring is an Associate Professor of Geological Sciences at Stanford University where she and her group study Earth-surface processes, the dynamic interaction of climate and tectonics in the Earth system and links between landscapes and life. She received a B.Sci. from North Dakota State University where she was a McNair Scholar, a Master's degree from Boston University, and a Ph.D. from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada, where she was an Izaak Walton Killam Laureate. She was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota, and an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the University of Hannover and GFZ Potsdam, Germany. She is currently a Gabilan Fellow at Stanford University, a Fellow of the Geological Society of America and was the inaugural recipient of the Marguerite T. Williams award from the American Geophysical Union. She was a featured scientist in the award-winning NOVA | PBS documentary Picture a Scientist. She has been a trainer for ADVANCEGeo since 2020. .
