7:30-8:30: Dessert discussion: What are our educational goals for using data in courses?

Monday, April 22

8:30-9:30: How are we currently using data in the classroom? Round table discussions of what currently works in different disciplines and settings.
9:30-9:45: Break
9:45-10:45: Round table discussions: How do different disciplines use data? What do we mean by data? What methodologies are common? What are unique?
10:45-11:00: Break
11:00-12:00: Round robin reporting and whole group discussion: What is our collective understanding of what is working within and across the disciplines? Is there a common definition of "data" that underlies our discussion? Are their common methodologies that can form a focus for increasing use of data in courses?
12:00-1:30: Lunch (Language and Dining Center)
1:30-2:30: What kind of data access and manipulation is technologically possible now and in the future? Presentation and discussion.
2:30-3:30: Scenario writing in small teams
3:30-4:30: How can our work with common integrated data sets or tools provide an integrating theme for interdisciplinary science in a particular course? Across a suite of courses? Presentation and discussion.
4:30-5:30: Scenario writing in small teams
6:00-7:30: Dinner (out and about in Northfield)
7:30-9:00: Posters and Demonstrations

Tuesday, April 23

8:00: Scenarios due-enter in wiki site
8:30-10:00: How do we evaluate the impact of this type of inquiry-based learning? What are our learning goals? What do we want to know and why? How do we measure it? How should we apply the results?
10:00-10:30: Break
10:30-11:30: Recommendations for developers of data services: What are our priority needs for data discovery, access and manipulation?
11:30-12:30: Development of key ideas for report and next steps.
12:30: Lunch
Afternoon: Informal discussions, and transportation to airport.
