Global Warming
Examples: Global Warming Data
GLOBAL WARMING DATA Trish Ferrett, Carleton College, Department of Chemistry
These data are associated with the Wiley and Sons Inc. module "What should we do about global warming?". The goal is to let students explore data relevant to the controversial issue of global warming.
Questions that students can address include:
- Describe the trends in greenhouse gas concentrations on both short and long time scales.
- Speculate on the role of the Industrial Revolution in the data.
- Describe the trends in world carbon emission on both short and long time scales
- Is there a correlation between carbon dioxide concentration and temperature? How sure are you?
- How have greenhouse gases changed in concentration over time? Which gases have changed the most?
- Which gases are greenhouse gases? How can you tell?
- Which greenhouse gases should be regulated? Why, and how? Data can be found at: http://chemistry.beloit.edu/Warming/index.html More information on the consortia/projects that authored this and other modules can be found at: http://chemlinks.beloit.edu/
