Model-Evidence Link Diagrams

In this webinar, Dr. Missy Holzer, Dr. Janelle Bailey, and Dr. Donna Governor introduce scientific plausibility and the Model-Evidence-Link (MEL) instructional scaffold. The MEL diagram helps students reason about the connection between given lines of evidence and models that explain a phenomenon. The Climate Change pcMEL is used as an example. Its two competing models are: Model A) Climate change is caused by humans who are releasing gases into the atmosphere and Model B) Climate change is caused by increasing amounts of energy released from the Sun.
