Challenges to using math in introductory geoscience

In a short paragraph, tell us about any perceived challenges to including math in your geoscience courses. Are students unprepared/underprepared? Is there a wide range of abilities in your student population? Does your department or administration present obstacles to including quantitative content in your introductory geoscience courses? Strategies for successfully implementing The Math You Need

Tell us how you plan to implement TMYN to best serve the students at your university/college. Briefly describe your planned implementation, including modules that you plan to use, timing of implementation, the geologic context that each module is designed to address, grading stakes, etc. Do you plan to revisit quantitative content in more than one geologic context? List the modules you use and the geologic context in which you use them. Do you revisit the concepts in more than one geologic context?

Talk about the successes/failures that you have had with TMYN. What have you changed? What will you change to try to address any difficulties you have faced? What aspects of your planned implementation have you modified to help your students learn better or more effectively? How do you think your modifications will aid student learning?
