Virtual Lab Tours

Students were introduced to science research faculty in fields ranging from Chemistry, Biomedical Science, Ecology, to Computer Modeling through virtual tours of laboratories and field sites on campuses affiliated with the LSAMP Alliance. The Virtual Lab Tours aimed to address these goals:

  • Identify questions that researchers are currently asking and studying.
  • Compare and contrast scientific approaches used in STEM Research.
  • Understand the foundational ideas that unite STEM Research.
  • Reflect upon a range of factors that motivate people to pursue a career in science.

Each week, students were expected to read a brief bio about the speaker and post several questions for them to the Discussion Board. A short reflection assignment was done as a follow-up to each laboratory shadow.
