In this activity, students use soil properties found in a footprint to solve an imaginary crime.
Soil Forensics Lab
The website includes downloadable printouts for student use and adaptation. Teachers may decide to change the suggested density gradient tube data collection to having students use a soil sieve or match the texture of the crime scene soil samples with the suspect samples.
