Map

MFDW Map - All of the marked places on this map are connected by the Tech Trolley, which is free, wheelchair accessible and runs in a loop. You can also easily walk between most of these points.

Hotels

The official hotel for the workshop in the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center. This hotel adjoins the Global Learning Center (you can walk from one to the other on the second floor), where many of the workshop activities will take place. Because of limitations on space, some speakers and participants will be staying at the Renaissance Atlanta Midtown Hotel. The hotels are a few blocks walking distance from one another and are also connected by the Tech Trolley. The Renaissance is directly across the street from the Historic Academy of Medicine, where the opening poster session will take place.

Airport Transportation

Workshop participants will not be reimbursed for transportation to and from the airport. There are essentially three options:

  • Take a taxi. Expect to pay about $40 each way.
  • Use the Atlanta Airport Shuttle (book in advance). This costs $18.50 one way, $33 round trip.
  • Take MARTA north to Midtown station and then either walk or take the Tech Trolley to your hotel. Note to those staying at the Renaissance: because your hotel is on a one-way street, you will actually ride almost the full trolley route before arriving there. This option will cost $2.50 each way (the cost is for MARTA; the trolley is free).

Registration

Please find our registration table in the lobby of the Georgia Tech Hotel between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Thursday, March 15. If you arrive after 5 pm, you can pick up your registration materials at the opening reception at the Academy of Medicine.

Parking

For local speakers and participants, there is a parking lot adjacent to the Global Learning Center. Take a ticket when you enter and be sure to ask for a voucher at the MFDW registration desk. When you leave, you'll present both your ticket and the voucher and your parking will be complimentary. There is limited parking at the other venues around campus so it's best to leave your car at the Global Learning Center and walk or take the trolley as necessary.
