Welcome to EvaluateUR: Enhancing Your Learning Experience

The EvaluateUR Method is a powerful tool designed to help you gain valuable insights into your own learning and development. Whether you're participating in independent research (EvaluateUR), a course-based research experience (E-CURE), an internship (E-Internship), or a team competition (E-Compete), the core framework remain the same.

What is the EvaluateUR Method?

EvaluateUR guides you through a structured process of self-assessment and reflection. It involves:

  • Self-Assessments: You'll periodically evaluate your progress and development using online assessments at key points in your program (beginning, middle and end).
  • Reflective Activities: You'll engage in reflective exercises to deepen your understanding of your strengths, areas for growth, and learning experiences.
  • Meaningful Conversations: You may have the opportunity to discuss your reflections with a mentor, supervisor, or instructor, depending on your specific program.

The goal of EvaluateUR is to provide you with personalized feedback and promote your academic and professional growth. The time commitment is manageable, and the benefits are significant.

Important Note: Your self-assessment scores and reflections are for your personal development. They are separate from any formal grading or performance evaluations.

Why is Self-Evaluation Important?

  • Develop Self-Awareness: Gain a clearer understanding of your strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.
  • Enhance Essential Skills: Improve critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Promote Metacognition: Become more aware of your own learning processes and how to optimize them.
  • Track Your Progress: Monitor your development and see how you're growing over time.
  • Prepare for Success: The skills and insights gained will benefit you in your academic and professional journey.

How Will EvaluateUR Benefit You?

By participating in an EvaluateUR program, you will:

  • Be introduced to a comprehensive list of competencies and skills considered essential to further education and in the workplace.

Ensuring You Receive Emails

EvaluateUR programs use automated emails to guide you through your program. To ensure these emails reach your inbox, please follow these steps:

  • Allowlist EvaluateUR Emails: Contact your IT department and request they "Allowlist" emails from SERC (on behalf of EvaluateUR Methods). This tells their system to trust emails from EvaluateUR. You can share this information with them:
    • SERC (https://serc.carleton.edu) is an office of Carleton College that runs the EvaluateUR program. The program relies on sending emails to participants.
    • To prevent emails being marked as spam, please allowlist the SERC email server. All emails are sent via Sendgrid's service through a dedicated IP address (50.31.59.122) which is only used for SERC emails.
    • SERC follows email best practices and has no history of spam complaints. Allowlisting this IP address will ensure emails reach users' inboxes.
  • Use Your Campus Email: If possible, use your campus-provided email address for EvaluateUR-based communication. This makes allowlisting more effective.
  • Individual Allowlisting: If campus-wide allowlisting isn't possible, allowlist SERC within your email account settings. Look for options like "safe senders" or "trusted senders." Add @serc.carleton.edu to this list.

By taking these steps, you'll ensure you receive all important EvaluateUR program notifications and updates.
