Topical Networks

Topical Networks are thematic networks for collaboration. Group members share interests in co-advancing research, student, and community outcomes tied to a particular earth or environmental challenge. A focus on cross-city exploration advances understanding across scales and levels (e.g. spatial, jurisdictional, community interests).

Metal Redlining

The Metal Redlining Network seeks to explore the relationship between Home Owners' Loan Corporation residential security maps that guided mortgage and community development practices. These maps established "A" "B" "C" and hazardous "D" or "redlined" areas that were often based primarily on racial composition. We are evaluating metal legacy across zones in multiple cities. Framing research around systemic injustice is critical to advancing both science and advocacy outcomes. The group benefits from members who have expertise in geochemistry, health and privacy, local policy, education, and community empowerment.
