Propose a workshop for the 2026 Earth Educators' Rendezvous!

July 20-23, 2026 | Columbia, South Carolina

The deadline for workshop proposal submission is October 1, 2025.

Workshops are a critical component of the Earth Educators' Rendezvous. As part of NAGT's On the Cutting Edge program, workshops at the EER should be aligned with the overall philosophy of Cutting Edge workshop design (opens in a new window). In particular, workshops should actively engage participants; facilitators should model effective, evidence-based teaching strategies. Participants should have the opportunity to share their own experiences and expertise, and should leave with something they can use. Networking and community-building is an important component. The program includes three types of workshops:

Two-day workshops, which take place over two 3-hour morning sessions (M-T or W-Th)
Four-day workshops, which take place over four 3-hour morning sessions (M-T-W-Th)
Mini-workshops, which take place in a single 2.5-hour session in the afternoon

Use this form to submit a proposal for a workshop. The planning committee will evaluate all of the workshop proposals and make selections based on the following criteria:

Workshop goals and description are well-aligned with the overall philosophy of Cutting Edge workshop design (opens in a new window)
Workshop is likely to be of interest and attract the intended audience
Workshop contributes to a balanced program that offers a variety of options for participants Note that we have a limited number of workshop spaces available in the program and we will not able to accept all of the proposals.

Description of proposed workshop
Give an overview of the purpose of the workshop, why this is an important topic/skill/concept to address, and a brief description of the types of activities that participants will engage in. (250 words max). * required

Morning workshops are expected to have at least 30 participants, and can accommodate more as long as it is possible for all participants to be actively engaged. What is the maximum number of participants you would be willing to have in your workshop?

Outcomes for participants:

Logistical needs:
All accepted workshops will be held in classrooms with access to wifi and the ability to project from a computer. Please describe any other logistical needs you have for this workshop (e.g., access to running water/sinks, access to outdoors, moveable tables, etc.).

Design Principles
Provide specific examples of techniques, activities or "assignments" in your workshop that address each of the Cutting Edge design principles.
