Instructional Chemistry Lab Technician

The Department of Chemistry at Binghamton University (State University of New York, https://www.binghamton.edu/chemistry/) invites applications for a full-time, Chemistry Instructional Program Associate position. Duties all relate to supporting the teaching functions of the department's Instructional Chemistry laboratories. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field and must have the ability to lift at least 30 pounds. This position will support the teaching function of the Chemistry Department by:
- Setting up instruments, and preparing chemicals and reagents for the instructional chemistry teaching laboratories
- Daily distributing and clearing of chemicals for labs
- Maintaining records and files of instrumentation and chemicals for the instructional chemistry labs
- Assisting on the management of the instructional chemistry stock rooms
- Assisting on the management of the instructional chemistry common areas
- Attaining knowledge of general lab safety, health and safety practices and protocol for waste disposal
- Providing training and work direction to student employees
- Assisting and supervising undergraduate students and graduate teaching assistants during laboratory sessions
- Assisting in the development of new lab exercises
- Participating in necessary institutional functions such as, but not limited to, departmental and university committees

Minimum Educational Requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field is required

Minimum Special Requirements.
- Must have the ability to lift at least 30 lbs

Preferred Requirement
- Must be familiar with general lab safety, health and safety practices and protocol for waste disposal
