New Program Officer Position with HHMI Science Education Alliance
We are searching for a person to join the HHMI Science Education Alliance (SEA) team as a Program Officer. This position is posted on HHMI's Career webpage, LinkedIn, and other websites. The SEA is a major initiative in the Inclusive Learning group (formerly UGP) which is part of the newly formed Center for the Advancement of Science Leadership and Culture.The SEA supports faculty members who integrate authentic research as a fundamental component of the curriculum for their beginning undergraduate students. The new Program Officer will support all aspects of the SEA program. In particular, they will help lead the development of a new initiative to recruit and support key institutions including community colleges, Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). This initiative is part of HHMI's goals to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in science (www.diversity.hhmi.org).
Ideally, the new Program Officer will have a PhD or equivalent degree in a STEM field, preferably in the life sciences with experience in bioinformatics and/or microbiology, and significant experience teaching science at a community college, TCU, HBCU, or HSI. The Program Officer will work at the HHMI SEA laboratory and office on the campus of the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
