GSU search for CURE-focused Academic Professional

The Neuroscience Institute at Georgia State University invites applications for the position of a full-time Academic Professional to begin August 2021. GSU is an innovative university located in the heart of downtown Atlanta that enjoys wide diversity in student population. The Neuroscience Institute anticipates recruiting a broadly trained faculty member whose primary responsibilities will be to (1) manage and teach a required laboratory course for Junior and Senior-level majors in Neuroscience; (2) provide service, such as managing facilities and laboratory equipment, applying for internal and external funding for further development of STEM research experiences for undergraduate students, and maintaining social media representation of the Neuroscience Institute. This twelve-month salaried position with full state benefits is non-tenure track and is eligible for promotion.
A Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field at the time of hire and experience with teaching undergraduate neuroscience-related coursework are required. Our department is committed to developing a culturally diverse faculty that reflects our student body, so members of minority groups are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants with demonstrated effectiveness in teaching diverse groups of students are also of particular interest. Applicants should submit 1) a letter of application (maximum 3 pages) that describes their professional accomplishments, future goals, and philosophy of teaching a diverse student body, 2) curriculum vitae, 3) their plan for a laboratory course that outlines a broad experience in contemporary neuroscience techniques, 4) evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., evaluations of the instructor, learning outcomes data, pedagogical publications, and publications co-authored by students), and 5) the names and contact information for three references. Applications can be submitted electronically in PDF format to niselectioncommittee@gsu.edu. The review of applications will begin on April 6, 2021* and will continue until the position is filled.
