About the State Your Case! Project

State Your Case!
is a faculty development project focused on helping students learn how to develop and support a point of view in any disciplinary or interdisciplinary field. It is the newest initiative of the Collaborative Assessment for Liberal Learning (CALL) consortium, which currently includes St. Olaf College, Carleton College, and Macalester College.

The purpose of the project is to develop, assess, and share effective strategies for improving students' abilities to think critically, engage thoughtfully with texts, articulate arguments, marshal appropriate evidence, and write and speak convincingly. Our goal is to improve teaching and learning, not just within individual courses, but throughout our institutions.

All CALL consortium faculty members are invited to participate in any component of the State Your Case! project whatever its campus location. Many project activities include stipends and expenses. The project is supported by a three-year Systematic Improvements grant (Fall 2008 - Spring 2011) from the Teagle Foundation.
