Earth and Space Science - Summer 2010 Course
In June 2010 a one-week course ran at the Northeastern University College of Professional Studies, fully enrolled with middle school and high school teachers. The purpose of the course was to help these teachers develop an understanding of planetary accretion and evolution and the place of the Earth in the solar system, and explore methods of inquiry-based teaching.
Participants developed teaching activities that were presented to the class on the final day, uploaded to the course website, and piloted during the 2010-11 school year. Designing units is a major course activity, and carrying them out with students is a central course goal.
Finished activities are available in the teaching activities collection.
