This web site features the microbe Rubrobacter xylanophilus. This organism was found to be extremely gamma-radiation resistant. This organism was also found to be slightly thermophilic. The DNA of other species of Rubrobacter has been frequently cloned from desert soils, where these organism may be abundant. This site contains some genomic information in addition to references.
