In this session Dr. Tim Klavon introduces "Talk Moves" as helpful tools for promoting rich discussion in the classroom. "Talk Moves" prompt students to listen carefully and respectfully to each other, share and expand ideas, and reason using evidence. Dr. Klavon shares his own research on student discourse as well as that of other researchers on the team. In this session teachers share strategies they use during classroom group work discussions. They consider the application of "talk moves" to discussion centered around engaging in argument from evidence with the goal of building concensus through negotiation.
