Background Information
I am the John D. Hollingsworth, Jr. Professor of Economics and Department Chair at Furman University, where I teach microeconomics, econometrics, urban economics, environmental economics, introduction to economics, population economics, and first-year seminars. In addition, I teach economics and strategy courses to employees of Blue Cross-Blue Shield of South Carolina and have taught in Furman's Liberal Arts Leadership program. My current research interests focus on the valuation of urban and environmental amenities, the economics of parking, and urban growth and development. I received MA and PhD degrees in economics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Iowa State University.
