This page acts as both a location for ongoing reporting about your project as well as a space where you can draft text that will appear in a public description of your activity at the completion of the project. Sections with blue titles will become part of this public description when your grant is complete. Text in these sections should be written for an audience of faculty outside Carleton in mind.

Project Description

For a description of the FOCUS program, see http://apps.carleton.edu/campus/doc/information_students/FOCUS/.

Goals

I would like my diverse group of new science majors to use their broad skill sets, from a variety of science majors, to analyze a common research question and share their results with the broader community.

Specific learning goals:
To broaden and deepen their scientific skills sets and increase their self-confidence as young research scientists.
To to learn collaboration skills to work within and across scientific disciplines and to come to an appreciation of the commonalities and difference in their various scientific fields.
To gain experience in communicating science to the campus and surrounding public spheres.
