Summary
This course will examine the transition from the colonial to the post-colonial state in South Asia. It will examine the various historical "traces" of colonial rule in the policies of various post-colonial nations.

Course Context:
This is an upper-division history course that has no prerequisites. However, most students have some familiarity with historical methods and/ or South Asian history.
Course Content:
This history course covers the transition from colonialism to the post-colonial state in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. It is an explicitly interdisciplinary approach that uses anthropology, literature and sociology to help illuminate the history of the period.
