Contribute to the Community
SERC hosted websites provide opportunities for faculty to share with one another the ideas, activities and materials that they have developed and tested in their classes–and to receive recognition for that development process. Whenever you contribute, you will receive acknowledgement on the resulting web page or description. Many of the projects provide mechanisms for reviewing contributed teaching materials. For example, the On the Cutting Edge program is conducting a systematic review of teaching activities contributed to their website over the last decade.
Many of the projects provide an online mechanism for contributing teaching materials. Look for the contribute link within project websites that align with your interests. There may already be a collection set up to which you can contribute. Some examples include:
- On the Cutting Edge covers a range of topics of interest to geoscience faculty. Each of these topical areas includes an area where you can contribute teaching activities and other materials relevant to that specific topic.
- NAGT, the National Association of Geoscience Teachers, invites contributions of geoscience activities and field trip descriptions to their collection
- Pedagogy in Action, SERC's cross-disciplinary site addressing effective teaching practices invites contributions of activities that exemplify a broad range of pedagogic practices.
