The image shows the changes in the water levels in the Aral Sea from May 29, 1973 through July 29, 2000.

According to the measurements I came up with, the surface area of the Aral Sea dropped from 5,941,187,500 square meters in 1973 to 3,005,437,500 square meters in 2000.

I'm not sure yet how I can incorporate this technology into my classes. I know that it would be very useful in a Science curriculum but I haven't come up with a correlation to the Math courses I am currently teaching. I could possibly use it for discussions of area, percentages or rates of change.
