Committee on the Study of Teacher Preparation Programs in the United States, National Research Council, National Academies Press
This report from the National Research Council summarizes the research base for what is known about teacher preparation in the United States and proposes a research agenda to fill in gaps in that knowledge. Chapters cover preparing teachers in different subjects, addressing four questions: (1) What do successful students know about X?, (2) What instructional opportunities are necessary to support successful students?, (3) What do successful teachers know about X and teaching X?, and (4) What instructional opportunities are necessary to support successful teachers?
